SO scared right now...nurse practitioner says I have low hcg **UPDATE**

Well no, I had bloods drawn, she didn't use the urine.  But she started talking M/C and D & C after ONLY seeing the line on the urine test.  I would have thought she'd be a lot more cautious about what she said to a first time pregnant woman...and know what she's talking about when she said it.

I hear ya...I have absolutely no tolerance for insensitive people in the health care business. I pretty much flipped out on a nurse after I had a miscarriage. She asked in a bored voice "what brings you in today?" I said "I just had a miscarriage a few hours ago" she makes a note in her chart and continues with the bored tone "any bleeding or cramping?" I just looked at her and she repeated herself like she was talking to a small child. WTF??? I just shook my head at her and asked if she was new, because that was quite a bedside manner she had. What a *****

Wow, people really are horrible!  I would think, as a woman, they would have more sense than that.

OK... first of all breathe!  I'm with the other ladies here... don't listen to one NP that doesn't even specialize in OB!  I'm 6 wks now and my hcg levels are lower than what my obgyn wants to see.  My 1st test was 177, 2nd (48 hrs later) was 239, & 3rd (another 48 hrs later) was 321.  I'm going in for my 2nd US tomorrow afternoon.  My 1st US (after the 239 level) showed a gestational sac in the uterus but because I'm still so very early in the pregnancy we didn't see a heartbeat.  So, more tests.  

Here's the thing, I'm 40 and this is our 1st child and we did Artificial Insemination because I'm lesbian.  This pregnancy is COMPLETELY wanted. 

Find an OBGYN that you love and he/she will work with you.  Mine is being very cautious but absolutely everything and she knows we'll do anything to keep this baby.  We've got lots of praying going on for our Lil Peanut to grow big & strong in my uterus.  We're just waiting for the doctor to catch up and tell us "yay... viable pregnancy & ur due date is..."

You'll get there too!  My prayers are with you as well.

My best friend and her partner want a baby but neither one wants to carry cuz of the stress of their jobs...best friend is a pharmacist her partner works with troubled kids...i offered up my uterus to em after i have this one...just sayin

IF you are REALLY SUPER SCARED, there is a way around all this and you can find out now...
GO to the ER tell them you are pregnant and you are cramping super bad...they have to run test to confirm pregnancy and might do an ultrasound to see if it is ectopic...they will run an HCG and pee test...

Holy mother of Joseph. You have GOT to be kidding me. WHo says that? 
What you are going through with the numbers is totally normal. THAT WOMAN, however, is totally out of line. You have every right in the world to ask that another nurse work with you instead of her. I don't like her and you can tell her I said so. Hang in there ... think positive thoughts and center your energy around that little nugget. <3

So, you are 6 days less than 5 weeks.  That makes you 4 weeks, 1 day or 15 DPO.  Though 82 is a tad low for that, it is definitely within reason and nothing to cause freak out.

Regular OBs only know how to go off of LMP and don't adjust for late ovulation.  Let her know you are only 4 week, 1 day and she may change her tune.

Just wanted to add an Amen to what everyone said- keep the hope.  I typically have 32 day cycles- which means I ovulate later (which I did confirm) So I always told them that and they always did it there way...I can remember having low HcG numbers...but they just monitored them to make sure they about doubled. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed all goes well. 

Thanks everyone...I actually figured out last night that its more than possible that I ovulated 4 days later than I thought I did...so my cycle was actually 36 days long with ov occuring on CD 24...which would have made me 9 dpo when I got my first positive and just 4 weeks along yesterday when the bloods were drawn.  Ah well...we will see...I will not let them talk me into a D & C - I'd rather miscarry naturally if the pregnancy really isn't viable.  I've been talking to my little poppyseed telling him/her to get their butt is gear and start producing some more hcg!

 That number sounds fine... mine were always on the low side in the beginning and I have 2 healthy kids!
Seriously, you really need to complain to the office about that *****y nurse's bedside manner. She was totally inappropriate and out-of-line!  
Find an OB/GYN you really like and give your current gyno the boot-- they suck if they have such a bad NP on their staff.
Breathe and try not to worry... chances are very good that your little bundle is perfectly fine!
